BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
in RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE (BBA-RMI)

NOTE: Due to an error in the 2009-2010 edition of the Undergraduate Catalog, the most current requirements for the BBA with a major in risk management and insurance (BBA-RMI) are to be found in the catalog addendums >>HERE

Required Major Courses:
(for students entering the program as of Fall 2008)

Current upper division (Junior/Senior) requirements for the major: RMI 3750, 4150, 4300, and 4350, which are recommended to be taken in that sequence, AND three of the following: RMI 3500, FI 4020, LGLS 4050, PFP 4000, RMI 4010, RMI 4020, RMI 4530 and RMI 4700.

Students who lack broad knowledge of insurance principles, markets, and institutions  are strongly encouraged to begin their course of studies with RMI 3500.

Note that three of the required major courses (RMI 3750, RMI 4150, and RMI 4350) have MA 1113 or higher as a prerequisite.

Consider a Minor in Risk Management and Insurance:

The minor in RMI emphasizes legal transactions and risk, providing the non-major student an opportunity to examine qualitative approaches to the management of business within a corporate and personal environment during conditions of uncertainty. Students who wish to minor in risk management and insurance must take at least 15 credit-hours of courses including the following:

RMI 3500 Introduction to Risk Management and Insurance
LGLS 3020 Introduction to the Law
LGLS 4050 Legal Transactions and Risk

Two courses from the following:

LGLS 4030 Lawyers and the Legal Process
LGLS 4040 Advanced Legal Analysis
LGLS 4060E Internet Law
LGLS 4490 Real Estate Law
PFP 4000 Personal Financial Planning
RMI 3750 Risk Modeling (Probability Theory and Simulation Analysis in Risk Management)
RMI 4010 Life Insurance
RMI 4020 Property and Liability Insurance
RMI 4150 Theory of Risk
RMI 4300 Risk Management
RMI 4350 Enterprise Risk Management
RMI 4530 Employee Benefit Plans
RMI 4700 Insurance Operations
