The
Center for Risk Management and Insurance Research
in the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University was
established in 1969 through grants and general financial support from
the insurance industry through the Educational Foundation, Inc. Additionally,
Georgia State University provids space within the Robinson College
of Business, support for a Center Director (as part of the department's
full-time faculty), and administrative support.
Our vision is reflected in the Insurance Research
and Education Initiative (IREI) that seeks to significantly enhance
decision makers' understanding of insurance and have a substantial
positive impact on business choices and public policy towards the
industry.
The Center is established as a leading information source on risk and insurance issues to:
 |
Support valuable faculty research;
|
 |
Provide resources to support faculty and student educational
activities;
|
 |
Increase the amount and
value of theoretical and applied research on risk and insurance
issues needed by private and public decision makers;
|
 |
Expand access to and increase
the utilization of information on risk and insurance by decision
makers and those who influence them; and
|
 |
Improve the quality of
private and public decisions with respect to risk and insurance
issues.
