Conrad S. Ciccotello is an Associate Professor of Risk Management and Insurance in the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. Dr. Ciccotello is also the Director of Graduate Personal Financial Planning (PFP) Programs, including the MS-PFP, the MBA with a PFP major, and the Masters PFP Certificate. Consistent with the interdisciplinary nature of these programs, Dr. Ciccotello himself has both the JD and Ph.D. A graduate of Suffolk Law School and a member of both the Pennsylvania and Supreme Court Bars, Dr. Ciccotello earned his Ph.D. in Finance in 1993 from the Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Ciccotello’s primary research interests are in law and finance, with emphasis on financial intermediation, organization, and contracting. He has over 35 publications including articles in the Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Financial Intermediation, American Business Law Journal, Journal of Corporation Law, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Financial Analysts Journal, Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, Strategic Finance, and the Journal of Accountancy.
Dr. Ciccotello’s scholarly outreach is extensive. He currently serves as a Fellow in the TIAA-CREF Institute. From 2001-2007, he was Editor of Financial Services Review, an academic journal dedicated to the study of individual financial management. Well known locally for appearances on WXIA (Channel 11) business news, Dr. Ciccotello has also provided expert testimony to the Retirement Committee of the Georgia Senate. He has commented on National Public Radio and been quoted in newspapers and financial publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Times, USA Today, CNNMoney, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Consumer Reports, Christian Science Monitor, Smart Money, Financial Planning, Mutual Funds, and Investment Advisor.
Consistently ranked among the top instructors by students in the Robinson College, Dr. Ciccotello received a faculty teaching award in 2006. In leading PFP Programs at Georgia State since 1999, Dr. Ciccotello has built a number of close relationships with leaders in the financial services industry. That interface has helped PFP program graduates to obtain placements in a number of the top firms in the Atlanta area.
