NEW YORK LIFE INTERNATIONAL FELLOWS PROGRAM
For more than a century and a half, New York Life has enjoyed a reputation as one of the strongest and most respected life insurance companies in the world. The basis of this long tradition of excellence comes from the spirit of ownership and innovation by people throughout the organization. The challenges of the marketplace, however, require the Company to constantly adapt and improve the way it does business in order to continue to prosper and meet the needs of its millions of customers worldwide. To this end, New York Life has partnered with the RMI Department to help attract and train the next generation of talented men and women who will guide the Company into the future.
How it works
The purpose of the New York Life International Fellows Program is to attract talented individuals into graduate degree programs in Actuarial Science and Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia State University. After graduation, the Fellows will hopefully enjoy successful careers with New York Life International (NYLI) or one of its many operating companies.
NYLI will provide each Fellow with up to $30,000 per year for up to two years in the form of a loan. After the first year of academic study, qualified candidates will complete a summer internship with NYLI. Following completion of all graduate coursework, successful candidates may be offered a position with NYLI or a NYLI overseas operation.
For each full year that the student works for NYLI or one of its operating companies, 20 percent of the total loan will be forgiven. At the conclusion of 5 years of employment, all loan obligations undertaken will be met.
Eligibility.
Fellows will be drawn from countries where NYLI has established or plans to establish international operations. Presently, those countries include: Argentina, China, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. NYLI may modify this list as its operations expand to other countries and regions.
NYLI will select fellows from among candidates who meet qualifications for admission to graduate study at Georgia State University. NYLI will interview qualified applicants, either in person, by videoconference, or in other such convenient manner.
