Georgia State
University Regents' Professor and Dean Emeritus Kenneth Black
Jr. established the "Program Chair" concept at Georgia
State University. The goal of this initiative is uniquely focused
on providing support to the entire Department of Risk Management
and Insurance, rather than the specific activities of any
particular faculty member, as most typical endowed chairs do. Funds
raised for the Kenneth Black Jr. Chair of Insurance serve as a source
of working capital for the department to attract and retain the
best teaching and research faculty in the world; to attract excellent
students with scholarships and fellowships; and ultimately, to entice
future RMI Department program heads who are respected leaders in
both academia and in the insurance profession.
